Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Management Objects (AMO) is a managed .NET library from Microsoft Corporation that enables developers and administrators to programmatically manage Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). AMO provides rich, strongly typed APIs for creating, modifying, deploying, and processing Analysis Services objects—including servers, databases, cubes, dimensions, hierarchies, measures, partitions, roles, and security—without hand-writing XMLA. It can be used from C#, PowerShell, and other .NET languages to automate repeatable administration tasks, integrate model management into custom tools and services, and support CI/CD pipelines for business intelligence solutions. AMO is the primary API for Multidimensional solutions and server-level management; for Tabular models, Microsoft recommends the Tabular Object Model (TOM), which complements AMO. Together, these libraries help teams streamline lifecycle management, enforce consistency, and improve reliability across on-premises and cloud-hosted Analysis Services environments.
